About Me:
Hello! My name is Wendy Stamey. I’m an accountant by day and a papercrafter by night. I was born and raised in a small town called Belmont in the wonderful state of North Carolina. I have wonderful parents and an older sister named Leslie. I’m so blessed to have found the love of my life…my boyfriend, Jeffrey.
God has blessed me in so many ways and I’m most thankful for the gift of his son Jesus Christ. When I was 12 years old I gave him my heart…and nothing has been the same since he came in!
How This Obsession Began:
Back in 2004, I returned home from a relaxing vacation at the shores of the Outer Banks in NC. I have always been an avid picture taker but I had never made one single scrapbook. Once home, I decided to make a scrapbook of my trip to record my memories…at that time, I didn’t even know what a layout was or a “crop” or even the difference between and eyelet and a brad! So I began frequenting Michaels and Hobby Lobby and buying pretty papers, stickers, etc. to make my first scrapbook. This is where I fell in love with scrapbooking…
Then one day a friend of mine from church invited me to a Stampin Up workshop. When I got the invitation I thought to myself, stamping? How messy is that! Who in this world would want to mess with all of that ink? I went out of an obligation to my dear friend and once I got there…once I saw how incredibly wonderful stamping actually was…it was all over…My free time as I knew it, my savings account, my devotion to Hallmark…gone, down the tubes forever! Now I was in love with making cards…and scrapbooking. One year later I signed up to be a Stampin Up demonstrator. And yes, every since then, I’ve had inky fingers.
Why I Love This Obsession:
There are so many reasons why I love stamping. One of the biggest reasons would have to be that I’ve met sooooooo many wonderful people and they have really turned into dear friends of mine. There are no age limits when it comes to loving to stamp! It’s probably one of the only activities I know of that causes women of all ages from in their 20’s and younger and into their 80’s and older to sit down together and share a common ground and to be able to laugh and fellowship and enjoy life together!
I love to share with others and have always loved to send cards to people. I’m a little shy at times so it’s difficult for me to express in words what my hearts wants to say. I find it’s easier to share my heart in a card. Plus, the recipient can always pull that card back out and re-read your heart again and again. So many of my family and friends have gotten spoiled by receiving handmade cards! (I don’t dare send store-bought cards anymore!) It brings that special touch and it is personalized just for them! There’s just something special to them about knowing that you sat down and took the time to make that card just for them!
Lastly, I enjoy teaching others how to stamp! Hey, I started at ground zero! I knew nothing! I hear so many people say, “I’m not creative.” Well neither was I, but that is the magical thing about stamping…you don’t have to be! Once you experiment for a while and start learning new techniques, you become creative…without even realizing it’s happening! Give it a try…I promise, it works!
